What are the benefits of alignment?

  • There are three kinds of benefit:

Some Performance benefits: your muscles won’t have to work as hard and you’ll feel less tired, edge changes will be smoother, you will be asymmetric on your skis and your turns will be smoother
Some Comfort benefits: you’ll feel more relaxed and more comfortable.
Some Confidence benefits: Slopes that seemed steep to you will seem easier. you’ll gain a sense of trust and confidence in your skiing that you may not have realised you lacked until alignment was introduced.
Read our customer feedback to see what alignment can do for you.

How soon will I feel the benefits of alignment?

  • Every person reacts differently. You may feel a big difference immediately, or the benefits may creep up on you over a week of skiing. In rare cases you may not feel much difference—but when you ski without your alignment you will feel extremely awkward, and then you will realise the massive impact alignment has had on your skiing.

How long does an alignment last?

  • Usually it lasts for at least a season or two providing you are in the same ski boots. Changing ski boots usually requires a new alignment unless you buy the exact same model and that you transpose all the adjustments inside it.

Does Alignment move?

  • Yes it can move, especially if you have an accident or a big emotional trauma inducing tension into your body. This is not something that I wish for anyone. It is good practice to have your alignment re-checked every two years.

Can snowboarders be aligned too?

  • Yes they can, and the results are very impressive.

Is the need for alignment more important on carving skis?

  • The skis should not make a difference, but in fact they do because shaped skis are generally allergic to skidding, one has to use carving principles to have fun. Carving invites skiers to roll their ankles to tip the ski on edge. Alignment improves your edging skill big times. So if you are on carving skis, you need alignment.

Where can I get new cants when I change skis?

  • You can order new cants from me.

Are there going to be new developments in alignment?

  • Yes, there will be, especially with the ski binding to boot interface and soon we will be determining where exactly should you mount your binding on the skis (more forwards, further back etc.). Rossignol have consulted me in their factory on this very issue. There are going to be new developments on the ski teaching front as I continue to make alignment more popular.
